What Is the Community Care Program?
The Advocates of Love Community Care Program helps less fortunate children in Samaná who still have a responsible guardian and safe living environment. Despite having
As we look back over all that God did last year we want to take this opportunity to share many of the victories with all of you who supported the ministry through prayer and provision.
We currently have 12 children in our care, many of whom receive weekly therapy with a psychologist and daily tutoring. The children are also participating in: weekly musical instrument lessons, a local baseball league, individual mentorship, and Bible school.
Some of the children like Marcos come to us after living alone in the streets and are not able to read. We celebrate today that he along with the others have made great progress in literacy as well as closing the gap in getting to their proper grade level in school.
In March we opened our first children’s church on the property of the children’s home in El Limon. Upwards of 50 children from the community meet every Sunday morning and receive Biblical instruction, a snack, activities, and worship our Lord through music. Approximately 26 children have prayed to receive Christ as their Lord and Savior while attending children’s church this year. Forty children graduated from our discipleship program.
Some of our greatest victories aren’t measurable, but rather experienced. We celebrate the hope the community as a whole has now that there is a trusted and reliable provision for vulnerable children. Advocates of Love was the first, and currently is the only government approved children’s home and advocacy service within the entire province of Samana, Dominican Republic!
