Areas of Our Ministry
Our Ministry is always in need of donors to help us further and grow our Mission. Here are some of our ongoing projects that you can provide direct donations for and join us in building a legacy of helping children in need.
Residential Complex
Fundación Defensores De Amor has a facility located in Los Corrales, Distrito Municipal Samana, Dominican Republic. This property is over half an acre with two new construction single family homes. The main home can house up to 15 children and is referred to as the Children’s Home. The second home is designed to be an all-girls home and can house up to 8 girls. It is called Casa de Rosa. Both homes are designed to be a permanent residence for these children. Fundacion Defensores De Amor partners with a local church and has a loving staff who act as family for these children, as part of their ministry. Casa de Rosa and the Children’s Home are specifically designed as a loving, nurturing, comforting home where the children can relax and be themselves, rather than an institution or an orphanage.
Community-Based Care
Community-Based Care is a program offered to children who can safely live with a suitable adult guardian and advocate (by standards set and required by CONANI and Advocate’s of Love). These children have a suitable caretaker, but are grossly lacking in physical, medical and/or educational care. Clothing, meals, medical, and/or educational sponsorship is their critical need, and is met through this program. The Community-Based Care Program is a solution that defers orphan status and provides children with the same standard of care as offered in the Children’s Home, but from a suitable adult advocate that lives in the community.
Children's Churches
We have established two churches that are designed explicitly for children ages 2 -17 years of age. The goal of these Churches is to provide spiritual nourishment for the children we serve. The churches are safe and open landmarks within the communities and serve. They are a positive conduit for the continual integration of faith-based living that the children we serve and people from within the community where they are located, can experience.
Mission Trips
On an as needed basis, local doctors, dentists, teachers, and other various specialties will be brought to the site to provide care to those within our care and/or custody.
Leveraging our in-country relationships, we provide exceptional mission trip opportunities with room and partial board provided by a local resort, in one of the most beautiful and relaxing places in the Caribbean. Women’s groups, US-based church groups, University groups, sports teams, high school student groups and professional organizations enjoy active and creative time with the children, as well as some personal development time on Dominican Republic beaches.
