Derling

Derling was placed in our children’s home at the age of 3 by the Dominican government agency Conani. Derling’s father had abandoned him prior to birth. His mother was addicted to drugs and would use Derling to beg for money for food. He was often left alone at night. Derling experienced a tremendous amount of physical and emotional abuse within his first 3 years of life. He has heavy scarring all over his body. When we received him he was severely malnourished. His mother has since passed away.

Since being placed in our care, Derling has become an exuberant boy.  He is intelligent and even skipped a school grade this year.  He loves to eat and his favorite food is “everything.”  He is a loyal, faithful friend and a spiritual leader to his peers.
